M
Garden
The ‘M’ Garden is the landmark
of the Garden,
clearly visible to passers by on County Road 46 (160th St).
The planting features 1800 brightly colored
annuals in the
shape of the University of Minnesota 'M'. The Gold 'M' part
is planted in ‘Bonanza
Gold’ Marigolds. Surrounding the ‘M’ are
Celosia “New Look’ with their vivid maroon stems,
leaves and flowers, representing the University of Minnesota’s
trademark maroon color.
The first ‘M’ display garden
was planned as a colorful maroon and gold celebration of the
150th anniversary of the University of Minnesota in 2001. The
display was such a stunning success that the same varieties
of annuals have greeted visitors to the garden ever since.
Plants Used
